A Man, a Baker and an Employment Matchmaker

58 year-old Rosebud resident, Barry Hellis, was recently made redundant.

The clerical skills he had acquired over the previous 30 years were now obsolete.

His last job was as a Seven Eleven console operator but was unfortunately replaced by a younger cheaper alternative.

Meanwhile on the other side of town Peter D'Alia from D'Alia's Bakery was in desperate need of an apprentice baker to bake his fine buns and confectionery.

He had previously employed Gen Ys but they didn't last more than a few weeks as many of them preferred to party, sleep or Facebook during the small hours of the night instead of work.

Sarina Russo Job Access, employment consultant, Emily Harris, brought Barry and Peter together when she suggested Barry consider starting a new career as a first year apprentice baker.

Barry sat back in his chair closed his eyes and imagined working in a bakery with a white apron, pants and bakers cap.  He nodded his head and said  'yes' and for the first time in months he could see light at the end of the very dark tunnel of unemployment.

Emily rang Peter and listened to him lament about the problems with today's youth and how they were unreliable and it wasn't like that in his day.  Emily raised the idea of an older person starting an apprenticeship.  Peter replied he would look at anyone prepared for work.

Barry started work the next week and Sarina Russo Job Access paid for his pants, apron and bakers cap.
