Lionel beats the odds and wins a New Career
Lionel came into the Certificate II in Transport & Logistics as a last resort after being told he should be retired at his age of 65 years. After dedicating his life to helping others a with a career in Community Service to Indigenous Communities he was after a long needed and well deserved change and he wasn't quite ready to stop working. During his time in the course he showed his commitment to finding employment by making appointments with the Recruitment Consultant and working towards overcoming the barriers he had to gaining employment.
On the final day of the course, an interview was arranged by Rebecca (SRI Caboolture Recruitment Consultant) with Traffic Group Australia and Lionel has now successfully obtained a position as a Traffic Controller. He will be heading to Roma to work and will be given future opportunities to travel or come home to Brisbane and remain working locally.
"In the past it has taken providers 6-12 months to even get me to an interview, and I always had to do everything myself and felt on my own. I was told I was too old told to change careers and I should be retired"
"The support I have received here is unlike any I have had before, and it's what got me through the course and into employment. I felt like I actually could learn, and that I was part of a team. I appreciate everything you have done for me"
