The dream of a higher degree brings Chinese student to JCU Brisbane

Vicky Ma is a bright, young student originally from Beijing, China.

Growing up, Vicky constantly dreamt of pursuing a degree overseas, and when this finally became a reality, she picked James Cook University Brisbane for its high teaching quality.

Choosing the Master of Professional Accounting to keep in line with her career goals, Vicky joined the JCU Brisbane student community in July this year. Always being one that enjoyed maths while in school and having dealt with numbers from a very young age, it came as no surprise when she received four High Distinctions in her first trimester at uni.

When asked how she managed to achieve such fantastic results, Vicky was fast to acknowledge her lecturers for their hard work and assistance in making this possible.

A Mentor herself, Vicky decided to get involved in the Student Mentor Program to help her fellow uni mates while making new friends.

Vicky aims to do even better for her second trimester, with more HDs in mind. She constantly reflects on the saying "no pain, no gain" to keep her on track.

We wish you all the best Vicky!
